William Alexander Obituary

William Alexander passed away February 6, 2021 at the Roblin Personal Care Home at the age of 87 years. William was predeceased by his parents, Benjamin and Isabella (nee Cormack) Alexander. He is survived by his wife, Olean (Pitz), son Wade (Gary) of Kamloops, British Columbia, and daughter Ronda (Dana) of Roblin, Manitoba, and grandchild, Benjamin (Brett) of Beaumont, Alberta.

William was born on February 26, 1933 in Roblin, Manitoba. He was raised on the family farm in Tummel, a small municipality southwest of Roblin, Manitoba where he attended school. Following high school graduation, William attended the University of Manitoba and completed courses in agriculture. In 1958 he married Olean Pitz and enjoyed 62 plus years together on the family farm, and were gifted with raising their two children, Wade and Ronda. Extended family includes a number of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and many nephew and nieces. In 1959 they built their family home where they resided until William moved to the Roblin Personal Care Home in 2019. William worked on the family farm his entire life, and only within in the last few years he stopped farming beef cattle and grain –he loved the farming life. William also worked as a farm insurance crop-adjuster for a period of time during his farming experience. Over the years William and Olean ran a dairy and pig farm and they eventually settled with beef cattle and grain farming. William was involved with various local and provincial community groups that supported the needs of those with physical health challenges. William, along with his wife Olean, attended the United Church in Roblin and Tummel. He was always willing to lend a hand and supported community members who were in need. William particularly enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling. We loved him dearly and will miss him forever. Thanks to the nursing and auxiliary staff of the Roblin District Health Centre and the Personal Care Home –Crocus Court for their unwavering care and empathic support.
