Mike Halirewich Obituary

Mike, beloved husband of Dorothy Halirewich, of Brandon Manitoba, passed away suddenly on April 10, 2022 in The Prairie Mountain Health Hospital, at the age of 91 years.

Mike was born on March 19, 1931 in the Shell River Municipality. He lived and worked on the family farm near, Togo, Saskatchewan until he met Dorothy Klym, the love of his life. They were married on June 21, 1959. Together, they built their own family farm just down the road. They worked together and developed a dairy farm as a main livelihood for their growing family. Mike also drove school bus for an incredible 43 years and took great pride in always getting his kids to school!

In 1996, Mike retired from farming and built a new home in Roblin. His newly found spare time found him welding up creations for lawn ornaments and flower beds. Mike along with Dorothy, took great pride in a beautiful yard and this was something they were well known for. Another retirement passion Mike enjoyed was fishing and he spent countless hours out on the areas lakes enjoying the outdoors.

Mikes biggest passion was for music and dance. He loved to play the violin and enjoyed entertaining at many of the community dances or neighbors parties. Mike and Dorothy had a natural rhythm as they danced and many couples would stop just to watch them. Together they taught many couples and children in the communities to dance. Right to his last days, if music played his feet started dancing

Mike is survived by loving wife Dorothy; children Diane (Leonard) Neault, Calvin Halirewich, Kendra (Albert) Busch, Debbie (Dean) Walkowski, Michael (Julyn) Halirewich; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren siblings; George Halirewich, Anne (Tony) Oucharek, Pauline Werbowetsky, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
