Martha Slobozian passes away peacefully at the age of 78 years in her home city of Calgary, Alberta after a battle with cancer on October 7th, 2022.
Martha was born on September 20th, 1944 in Hamiota, Manitoba to John and Teenie Sloboazian. She was the eldest of three children and their only daughter.
Together with their parents and brothers Mike and Joe, they grew up on the family farm where she would learn her strong family values. She loved to cook, go to dances, and help out whenever needed. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
After finishing her schooling at Pozir school, she quickly entered the work force. Her first job being in Russell at the Russell District Health Centre for several years. Martha worked in Regina, Winnipeg, and finally ended up in Calgary, where she would settle down with the love of her life Walter Stoushnow. The two would be inseparable up until Walters passing in 2019.
In life Martha enjoyed doing many things like camping, fishing, cooking, watching her favorite show “corner gas”, being with grandchildren, family and friends, and gardening.
She worked for many years in Calgary at The Carriage House Restaurant, with it being her last place of work before her retirement.
She will always be remembered by her beautiful smile, kind heart, ad generosity. She touched many lives and will be sadly missed.
Martha is predeceased by her husband Walter Stoushnow, parents John and Teenie Slobozian, and her sister in law Helen Slobozian.
She is survived by her brothers Mike (Betty) Slobzian of Roblin, Joe (Debbie) Slobozian of Petlura, step children Troy Stoushnow and Tracy Fong of Calgary, grandchildren Hunter, Sage, and Nixon. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Prayer service was held October 20, 2022 from the chapel of Nairnchyz-Wolkowski funeral service Divine liturgy was held on Friday, October 21, 2022 also from the chapel of NairnChyz-Wolkowski funeral service interment followed at Holy Ascension Ukranian Catholic Cemetery, Petlura District, MB., with father Ivan Hnativ officiating.
