BAPTISTE, Evelyn Ethel   November 3, 1933 – September 13, 2022 Age 88 Years.

     Evelyn Ethel Baptiste was born November 3, 1933 in Chelsea, England, a daughter to Alexander and Sarah (Pugh) Waller. She grew up in Coventry, England.

     Evelyn met Frank Baptiste at a local tennis club in Coventry when Frank was working as a Stress Analyst in the aircraft industry there. Evelyn and Frank were married in Coventry on February 23, 1957.          They moved to Canada, residing in Winnipeg and Montreal where Frank continued working in the aircraft industry. Evelyn worked in a library while in Montreal. In 1968 Frank and Evelyn decided to live their dream and moved to the Makaroff District to farm. They enjoyed the Makaroff area and made many lasting friendships. After her husband died Mrs. Waller (Evelyn’s mother) moved here from England and lived with Evelyn and Frank on the farm. She later resided at Crocus Court Personal Care Home until her death in 1993.

    Frank and Evelyn moved into Roblin in 1995, buying a home on Newton Bay. Here they enjoyed their retirement and their involvement in community organizations.

    After Frank’s passing in 2002, Evelyn continued to live in their house until 2011 when she decided to downsize and moved to Roblin Apts. With declining health, Evelyn moved to Crocus Court Personal Care Home in 2021 where she resided until her death on September 13, 2022.  

    Evelyn was very involved in the Roblin and District Health Auxillary and also a very dedicated volunteer at Crocus Court Personal Care Home. She enjoyed travelling and outings with her friends including the “Roblin Rubies”. Evelyn was an avid reader and was involved with the church.

    Evelyn is predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank, her parents, in-laws Mel and Marie (Baptiste) Clark, Jack Baptiste, and Joseph and Janet Baptiste (Frank’s parents).

    Surviving to mourn and celebrate Evelyn’s life are sister-in-law Maudie Baptiste of Nova Scotia, nephews Barry (Ruth) Clark and Rod (Doreen) Clark of Grandview, MB, nieces Ramona (Peter) Clarke, Janet Baptiste(George) Langille, nephew Robert (Elaine) Baptiste all of Nova Scotia. Also mourning Evelyn’s passing is her cousin Rev. Victoria Hackett of Wales, United Kingdom. There are many great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.

     Evelyn will also be missed and lovingly remembered by her many friends.
