Barrie Stirling Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and nephew Barrie Stirling who went to join his wife Barbara on May 24th, 2020 at the age of 79 in Grandview, Manitoba after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Barrie was born to George and Lola Stirling in Grandview on March 12, 1941. As a child he cherished his time out at the Stirling farm where his Aunt Sheila now presides. He liked to visit with his grandparents James and Jeannie, he loved to ride the family horses Sliver and Fly, doing farm work, picking berries and spending time with the rest of the clan. As Barrie got older he loved playing hockey and working in the bush. At the age of 16 he went to work for his dad’s trucking business hauling gravel and pulp, leaving for a period to haul pulp in BC.
Barrie met and later married Barbara Evans in 1972. They soon had children Lee, Carla, Brandie and Lana.
In 1975, Barrie and his brother Cameron started Stirling Enterprises together. It was a very important aspect of his life. He was very proud of what they accomplished together. He took pride in everything he did whether it be on the job running equipment, out scouting for gravel or looking for deals buying equipment.
Besides the business Barrie had a lot of loves. He had great memories driving the comet bus, playing commercial hockey, curling at bonspiels, Vegas trips with Barb. He enjoyed visiting with friends but would most likely be doing that from the front seat of his ford truck. He truly loved watching his kids play sports but his favourite time with them was Sunday’s as he had all his family together and as time went on he cherished spending time with his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Barrie fought hard right up until the end with all his children by his side.
Left to mourn him are his son Lee Stirling, daughters Carla (Danny) Stoski, Brandie Bryan, Lana Stirling, all his beloved grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. His brothers Jim, Cameron (Dianne), Tom (Sue), sister Reba(Robyn), Aunt Sheila , brother-in-law Tom(Barb), sisters-in-law Connie (Art), Nancy, Susan(Arthur) and many other family and friends.
A celebration of Barrie’s life will be held at a later date. For more information or to leave a note of condolence for the family, please visit NairnChyzWolkowski.ca
